Everest Base Camp Trek Overview

This is a complete 14-day trekking plan ideal for international travelers flying into Kathmandu. Perfect for moderate fitness trekkers with proper acclimatization days included.

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu (1,400m)

Kathmandu Arrival

Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport. Rest, explore Thamel, buy/rent trekking gear, get permits: Sagarmatha National Park (USD 30), TIMS (USD 20).

Day 2: Kathmandu Acclimatization

Kathmandu City Tour

Explore UNESCO heritage sites like Swayambhunath and Pashupatinath. Attend trek briefing and gear check.

Day 3: Fly to Lukla (2,860m) → Trek to Phakding (2,610m) – 3-4 hrs

Lukla to Phakding

Take the scenic (and weather-dependent) flight to Lukla. Start trekking through Sherpa villages and river trails.

Day 4: Phakding → Namche Bazaar (3,440m) – 5-6 hrs

Phakding to Namche

Cross suspension bridges, climb steep forest trails, and enter Sagarmatha National Park. First Everest view point en route.

Day 5: Namche Bazaar Acclimatization

Namche Bazaar

Optional hike to Syangboche or Everest View Hotel (3,800m). Explore market, local shops, museum & cafés.

Day 6: Namche → Tengboche (3,860m) – 5 hrs

Tengboche Monastery

Walk through pines and rhododendron forests before reaching the beautiful Tengboche Monastery.

Day 7: Tengboche → Dingboche (4,410m) – 5 hrs

Dingboche Valley

Pass Deboche and climb gradually into the Imja Valley with views of Ama Dablam and Island Peak.

Day 8: Dingboche Acclimatization

Dingboche Acclimatization

Hike to Nagarjun Hill (5,100m) for panoramic views. Rest and hydrate well.

Day 9: Dingboche → Lobuche (4,940m) – 4 hrs

Lobuche Trek

Trek beside the Khumbu Glacier and memorial monuments dedicated to climbers.

Day 10: Lobuche → Gorakshep (5,164m) → Everest Base Camp (5,364m)

Everest Base Camp

Reach Gorakshep, drop bags, then continue to EBC. Witness climbers, tents, and Khumbu Icefall. Return to Gorakshep.

Day 11: Kala Patthar (5,555m) → Pheriche (4,240m)

Kala Patthar Sunrise

Early morning climb to Kala Patthar for the best sunrise view of Everest. Descend to Pheriche for better sleep.

Day 12: Pheriche → Namche Bazaar – 7 hrs

Back to Namche

Retrace your steps through Tengboche and enjoy the comforts of Namche again.

Day 13: Namche → Lukla – 6 hrs

Namche to Lukla

Final push crossing bridges and trails. Celebrate with your trekking team.

Return to Kathmandu

Fly back early morning. Keep buffer days for weather delays.
